Word and Poem of the Week

Ok, I kind of have to make this brief. The people who guessed last week's (or month's, I can't tell which) poem were Alina (first) and Ambika (second). **clap, clap clap**. This week's WOTW (Word of the Week) is vex: to annoy, to perplex, to puzzle. Remember, you can join the contest to try to get the best sentence/phrase/sentence fragment using the word vex. there are no prizes for this contest, or any other WOTW contest. If you have ideas for future words, please e-mail me. That is, if you know my e-mail. I am not putting it on the internet!

And now for the POTW (Poem of the Week):

Fire

It sheds its warmth,
passes through the streets
very
quickly,
destroying everuthing
in its
path.

It gives light,
and inspiration,
Yet leaves depression
as it subsides.

It is awesome,
ever-changing,
bringing joy and hope,
yet loss and despair.

It is different,
unexpected,
Traveling through
the streets.

It gives illusion
of great comfort,
While leaving behind it
Grief.

If you guess the author of the poem correctly (by e-mail, of course), then you will be mentioned in the next POTW post.

Meanwhile, please leave your truthful comments about this poem in the comments section.

  1. Alrighty. You told me to comment on the most recent post. So, here is my spring poem:

    Spring Poem

    When I think of spring
    I think of:
    Soft air
    Flowers gently spreading, blooming
    And that last lone raindrop
    Rolling over
    that green
    Oak
    Leaf.

    Laying on the patchy hills
    Staring into
    The burnt sunset
    As the shimmering lake
    Slowly turns darker
    And darker.

    The frog's symphony
    Accompanying the
    Bird's sweet song
    While seeing my reflection
    In the small pond.

    The crusty leaves of autumn
    Gently blown away
    Not to be seen
    Until the upcoming
    Year.

    I think of
    Breathing in the season
    And exhaling
    In satisfaction.

    So that's my poem.

  2. Yay Catherine!!!! Your poem is awesome!

I like the fire poem a lot. It explains the positive and negatives of fire in a very rhythmic way. For example, how it brings inspiration, but then when it subsides, grief.

Here is my sentence for vex:

My little sister feels like it is her job to vex me at every opportunity she gets.

    Thank you.
